Zombie Road Signs

A few weeks ago I posted a nice little piece about how someone hacked into a TxDot sign in downtown Houston and changed the sign to read “Poop” and “LOL”.

Well it has apparently happened again here in the Houston area.

This time a sign on Galveston Island was hacked to read “Zombies on Mainland”.

After a thorough search by the local media no zombies were located.

No I did not do this to this sign as a way to promote my friends upcoming book release where he wrote a novel about zombies.

Sorry for my lack of posting in the last week, but work and my kids have been kicking my ass.

  1. glad to know there are no zombies. Yay for sign hacking, you know there is some psycho out there that freaked out over this and went back home to hide.

  2. There was one in California a few years ago that read "ZOMG ZOMBIES! RUUUN!"

I saw it driving home from work. I almost crashed into the guardrails because I was laughing so hard.

  8. It would make my heart happy to see our road signs hacked like this, but really..northern WV..would anyone care if we had zombies?

  9. That is freaking awesome! I bet someone is sitting around laughing their asses off right now...or being eaten by zombies... either way, freaking funny!

  11. @ Lurker, you may very well be right. I mean the whole Bin laden thing is a distraction.

@ Leauxra, thank you. And that is pretty cool as well.

@ Sam, I think in WB no one would notice.

@ Amber, I bet you are right that someone is sitting around laughing. While getting their brains eaten.

@ Vinny, yep another false alarm.

  14. I'd love to have a sign like this so I can tell drivers how I really feel!!! That would be so awesome. A sign that we could haul on a trailer that says "Hey Asshole, get out of the left lane" or something like that. I want it !!

  24. I love these things. Apparently, they're quite easy to hack. Wish I had a techy friend that could post my messages on one :-)

  31. YESSS!!! it's funny because I was on the island a few times in the last week and I missed it. So sad!

    ReplyDelete
  32. @ Pat, it happens every year at election time.

    @ Kernut, thank you.

@ Miley, yep you missed it.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I notice you said you didn't do it to promote your friend's book. But you're dancing around whether or not the two are still related. haha

    ReplyDelete
  34. Damn! None were found? That sucks! I saw something like that once in Austin.

    ReplyDelete
  35. @ TS, hey I am no going to complain about it though.

  36. Were supposed to get like nine hurricanes in Texas this year, so the zombies will go right out to sea and the problem will be solved.

    ReplyDelete
  37. That piece of guerilla art never ceases not to entertain me, zombies and all.

    ReplyDelete
  38. At least the pranksters have a sense of humor. And besides everyone can use a bit of laughter to lighten the day. Thanks for sharing!

    ReplyDelete
  39. That's hilarious! They should come do it in Midland...but wait...we're not technologically advanced enough to have those kind of signs. Or traffic, for that matter.

    ReplyDelete
  40. @ Jarhead, I never thought about it like that before. Good point!!!!

    @ Copyboy, same here man.

@ Empress, I agree everyone could use some laughter.

@ Janie, you are right about the traffic part that is for sure.

  41. I always wanted to be one of the people who hack into these things and change the signs. Here in Los Angeles, there's road construction on every corner, so I'm sure it's possible. I don't know if I would put something as ridiculous as "Poop" but I would hope whatever I came up with was equally as laughable. How much trouble can you get in if you're caught anyway?

  42. It's all true! I was just in Galveston last weekend and the zombies they were speaking of was me and my family. Sorry I didn't let you know sooner!

    ReplyDelete
  43. @ Auto, the law here said something about 30 days in jail and/or a $500 fine. Given how over crowded the jails are today, I doubt you would get any time.

@ Kelley, i had a "sneaking suspicion" it was you.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I was wondering where you were! Glad you're back!

Maybe the zombies ARE coming and someone is just trying to spread the word to all the poor, unsuspecting citizens. Kidding. Although, I'll bet there are a few conspiracy theorists out there who will believe those signs. lol
