A few weeks ago I posted a nice little piece about how someone hacked into a TxDot sign in downtown Houston and changed the sign to read “Poop” and “LOL”.
Well it has apparently happened again here in the Houston area.
This time a sign on Galveston Island was hacked to read “Zombies on Mainland”.
After a thorough search by the local media no zombies were located.
No I did not do this to this sign as a way to promote my friends upcoming book release where he wrote a novel about zombies.
Sorry for my lack of posting in the last week, but work and my kids have been kicking my ass.
glad to know there are no zombies. Yay for sign hacking, you know there is some psycho out there that freaked out over this and went back home to hide.
ReplyDeleteThere was one in California a few years ago that read "ZOMG ZOMBIES! RUUUN!"
ReplyDeleteI saw it driving home from work. I almost crashed into the guardrails because I was laughing so hard.
That's good clean fun right there! Love it!
ReplyDeleteGlad that you are back - thought that the zombies had gotten you - an OT Sammich!
ReplyDelete@ Rosie, I am sure a couple of people went home to hide.
ReplyDelete@ Lost, that is hilarious.
@ Random, yes it sure is.
@ Laughingmom, thank you.
No problem but there are zombies on the mainland, the government is covering it up:P
ReplyDeleteThis really is an awesome prank. Happened in my neck of the woods a few weeks ago... http://www.dailycamera.com/boulder-county-news/ci_17611315
ReplyDeleteIt would make my heart happy to see our road signs hacked like this, but really..northern WV..would anyone care if we had zombies?
ReplyDeleteThat is freaking awesome! I bet someone is sitting around laughing their asses off right now...or being eaten by zombies... either way, freaking funny!
ReplyDeleteAmberLaShell Rants
Oh... False alarm? *puts away chainsaw* Never mind then.
ReplyDelete@ Lurker, you may very well be right. I mean the whole Bin laden thing is a distraction.
ReplyDelete@ Leauxra, thank you. And that is pretty cool as well.
@ Sam, I think in WB no one would notice.
@ Amber, I bet you are right that someone is sitting around laughing. While getting their brains eaten.
@ Vinny, yep another false alarm.
Haha, ok this will really show my immaturity, but I think the poop one is funnier! That is awesome. Since we are back, I will keep an eye out.
ReplyDeleteI have just GOT to find out how I can do this!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to have a sign like this so I can tell drivers how I really feel!!! That would be so awesome. A sign that we could haul on a trailer that says "Hey Asshole, get out of the left lane" or something like that. I want it !!
ReplyDeleteI thought for sure they would find some Zombies!
ReplyDeleteawww, I want funny signs like that around here. Might show they were actually fixing the crappy roads lol.
ReplyDeleteThis has definitely kept some drivers from drowsing of on long drives.
ReplyDeleteGreat prank.
@ Ruth, yes it is.
ReplyDelete@ Tex, the poop one is funnier.
@ Al, I am sure it is not that hard.
@ Barb, I agree with you.
@ Manager, same here.
@ Mynx, I am sure that they have some down under.
@ Antares, it would have woken me up for sure.
Life keeps kicking my ass, too.
ReplyDeleteMaybe we're turning into zombies?
You know what sound Zombies make as they munch on brains? nom nom nom.
ReplyDeleteThat is too funny. I hope they never catch the culprit. I want more signs for you to find and post!
ReplyDeleteI do wish I had the smarts to be hacker...as I'm sure so many other people do. Oh the messages I would leave people....*insert evil laugh here*
ReplyDeleteDEAR GOD! Can you IMAGINE the fun?! The havok I could....sigh... I'm getting too caught up in the thrill of this.
I'd love to hack those signs. I'd be soopa rude!
ReplyDeleteI love these things. Apparently, they're quite easy to hack. Wish I had a techy friend that could post my messages on one :-)
ReplyDeleteYou're making me want to hack into some road signs!
ReplyDeleteWork and kids kicking my ass, also. Hang in there.
@ Stephanie, that might be it.
ReplyDelete@ Anna, thanks for the laugh.
@ S, I agree.
@ Daffy, same here.
@ Lass, same here.
@ Dr, so do I.
@ Saw, please don't blame me when you get caught. lol
hate getting my ass kicked by kids...
ReplyDeleteeven worse getting it kicked by work...
but getting it kicked by the worker zombie kids really sucks!
Too funny!
ReplyDelete@ Bruce, that is so true. Thank goodness we don't live in south east Asia near a Nike factory.
ReplyDelete@ C, thank you.
Maybe not this time, but it's gonna happen...
ReplyDeleteBe prepared!
Great timing! Too funny. I wish someone would do that here.
ReplyDeleteYESSS!!! it's funny because I was on the island a few times in the last week and I missed it. So sad!
ReplyDelete@ Pat, it happens every year at election time.
ReplyDelete@ Kernut, thank you.
@ Miley, yep you missed it.
I notice you said you didn't do it to promote your friend's book. But you're dancing around whether or not the two are still related. haha
ReplyDeleteDamn! None were found? That sucks! I saw something like that once in Austin.
ReplyDeleteI miss a lot of things...
ReplyDelete@ TS, hey I am no going to complain about it though.
ReplyDelete@ Laynee, yep it sucks that they didn't find any.
@ Miley, yes you do.
Were supposed to get like nine hurricanes in Texas this year, so the zombies will go right out to sea and the problem will be solved.
ReplyDeleteThat piece of guerilla art never ceases not to entertain me, zombies and all.
ReplyDeleteAt least the pranksters have a sense of humor. And besides everyone can use a bit of laughter to lighten the day. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThat's hilarious! They should come do it in Midland...but wait...we're not technologically advanced enough to have those kind of signs. Or traffic, for that matter.
ReplyDelete@ Jarhead, I never thought about it like that before. Good point!!!!
ReplyDelete@ Copyboy, same here man.
@ Empress, I agree everyone could use some laughter.
@ Janie, you are right about the traffic part that is for sure.
I always wanted to be one of the people who hack into these things and change the signs. Here in Los Angeles, there's road construction on every corner, so I'm sure it's possible. I don't know if I would put something as ridiculous as "Poop" but I would hope whatever I came up with was equally as laughable. How much trouble can you get in if you're caught anyway?
ReplyDeleteAva
It's all true! I was just in Galveston last weekend and the zombies they were speaking of was me and my family. Sorry I didn't let you know sooner!
ReplyDelete@ Auto, the law here said something about 30 days in jail and/or a $500 fine. Given how over crowded the jails are today, I doubt you would get any time.
ReplyDelete@ Kelley, i had a "sneaking suspicion" it was you.
I was wondering where you were! Glad you're back!
ReplyDeleteMaybe the zombies ARE coming and someone is just trying to spread the word to all the poor, unsuspecting citizens. Kidding. Although, I'll bet there are a few conspiracy theorists out there who will believe those signs. lol
