The Zombies Are Here

A while back I told you about how my friend Jason has written a fiction book about zombies. Well I finally got my hands on a copy of the book a couple of weeks ago and just finished reading it this past weekend.

The book is called “The Dying Of The Light:End” and I must say that it is very good.

It opens by giving you some back ground history on zombies and how long they have been really been around. The book then chronicles the only survivor of a zombie outbreak in Colorado named David Blake.

From there the action picks up with the formation of a special group assigned to killing zombies. From that point forward it is some good zombie killing action with all hell breaking loose.

I don’t want to give away too much about the book because I want you to read it. The book is good and has something for everyone. It has zombies, action, drama, humor, suspense, conspiracy, religious nuts, and pretty much everything that you would expect from a good zombie book.

The book was really easy to read and I could not put it down until I finished it. And that is saying a lot since I normally can’t read a whole book cover to cover in one sitting. Although I am no literary critic, I liked the book. The book was well researched and the author did his home work when he wrote the book. It was also very well written.

The book was well worth the time spent in reading it, and I am recommending it to you.

Please go and “like” Jason’s facebook page. And you can purchase the book in print form here or in kindle version here.

And since I am appreciative of all of my followers and your efforts to spread the word about my friend’s book, I am going to give away a copy of the book here (which is my very first giveaway).

To win a copy of “The Dying Of The Light:End” I only ask that you be a follower of mine and in addition to whatever comment you leave for this post, simply say “Free Zombie” as well.

I will print off a little piece of paper with the name of each contestant and pull the winner from a hat. Or some other type of container. And I will let one of my kids pick the winner, so cross your fingers.

I will leave this contest open until Sunday night and I will post the winner next week.

So please get out the word about my friends book and go buy it!!!!

  4. I have a couple of questions:

    1. Does the zombie outbreak start through supernatural phenomena, infected monkeys, or nuclear waste?

    2. Are the survivors actually able to say the Z word or do they just blank out like Bruce Campbell coughing his way through the Necronomican verses and have to come up with an entirely new word for them?

  8. Thanks for the review! I'd like to mention that the book is 410 pages and is $12 in paperback (+ S&H) and only FOUR BUCKS on the Kindle. Less than a cup of coffee.

You can read a sample of the book on Amazon, too, to see if you like it before you buy. All I ask is that if you read it, you give it an honest review on Amazon.

    Thanks again!

  9. I'll Like Jason's page as soon as I get home. Not that I'm commenting while I'm at work or anything...

How are you going to decide who wins the Free Zombie? Is it the scope of the commenters zombie love? 'Cause I'm part of the Zombie Research Society, yo!

Or the person most like a zombie? 'Cause you know my current job situation and I can safely safe that I'm brain dead anymore.

  12. Who doesn't like FREE ZOMBIE books?

It looks intriguing, that's for sure. I just showed the 80's epic Highlander to my gf last night, and she summarized the movie as 'swordfighting zombies.' Maybe we'll just find a good zombie movie to watch tonight...

  25. Free zombie! I can read it and then when the zombie apocalypse comes we can use it to beat them back. But we may eventually have to use it to start fires. You know after we've ripped up all the Hemingway and Ken Follet.

  26. Awesome post OT! I'm sure J appreciates it! I still haven't read it yet but it's on my agenda for "very soon".

  30. Bravo to your friend for getting his work published. As an author myself I know this is no small task and I can't imagine writing fiction FOR ADULTS. Maybe some day! I'm supporting him on Facebook because again, I know how difficult it is to get friends, yes, you heard me, FRIENDS and family to click LIKE on your Facebook page. Thanks for supporting your friend, the world would be a much better place if others did the same.

  31. He did his homework? You mean that since he was using an existing paranormal species he stuck the the already appointed rules and didn't have them, oh I don't, shimmer in the sun? Sounds awesome to me. "Free Zombie"

  32. The history of zombies? That really sounds pretty wild. Zombies are super cool. Except they can't play hockey. Because, every time they do, there's a face-off.
    Free Zombie? Heck yeah.

  33. sounds wonderful will definitely check it out

    ReplyDelete
  34. I love the idea of a history of zombies!! Can I buy this in the bookstore yet(I love an excuse to go to the bookstore)? I don't have a Kindle (still prefer holding a book in my hands), but I want to buy a copy to support your friend--I love supporting writers. :)

  36. Justin- congrats to your bud, I liked his page way back when you first told us about it! WTG ! glad it turned out awesome. Earlier this week I took the kids to the base pool and we had a deep discussion about the fact there has never been a zombie movie where zombies were in a pool. So it lead to a deep discussion if they would float or walk on the bottom, also a kick ass zombie version of marco polo. hats off to your friend and best of luck !
