Wild Thing Was Here

I have written about how I thought Charlie Sheen was cool, how he lost his job, and how you can party like a rock star with him. We all know he marches to the beat of a different drum, well hell he marches to the beat of an instrument which hasn’t been invented yet but that is beside the point.

You see Charlie Sheen was here in Houston last night for his “Violent Torpedo of Truth” comedy tour. I have no idea how it was or if it was any good. I couldn’t afford to find out so I guess I will have to wait and see what the paper says about the show.

On Monday when Charlie rolled into town, he headed over to my old college, the University of Houston to attend batting practice with their baseball team. He participated in batting practice, caught some balls with the entire team, and signed autographs and took pictures with the team and players. Since my college is known as the “Cougars” I hope Charlie gave them some “tiger blood” so that they can do some more “winning” and end up in the college world series in a month.

After reading the paper about his trip to visit the Cougars, I did not know that Charlie is still a baseball fan (don’t forget about his role in the Major League movies). And while on his drunken tour across America, he has stopped at a bunch of colleges to hang out and visit with various college baseball teams. I think that is pretty cool considering he is batshit crazy and high as a kite.

  1. Why would a coach let that guy near his team?

  2. It's hard to see on my phone, but he looks all sweaty. Also batshit crazy and high as a kite.

  3. Maybe he is getting an early jump on his community service sentence?? Either way, kind of cool that he is doing something fairly under the radar simply because he enjoys it, not because he is making a profit off of it.

  4. I think sex, drugs & baseball in Carlos' world is the equivalent of going to Disneyland.

  5. at least they are adults in college or mostly over the age of 18...

boreball needs some spiciness...it is slow moving and bland...

chuckles will teach these kids how to have fun and then mebbe boreball will not be quite so boring...

or mebbe, he is so high and batshit crazy he thinks he is on the set for major league 15 or what the fuck ever?

  6. I believe he needs major help. He's just all over the place with his mind. It's scary to listen to him and watch him when he's ranting.

  7. Didn't he just bail out Lenny Dykstra? I wonder how his mind works...

  8. @ Manager, I guess because he has a sense of humor and the kids are all above 18.

    @ Dawn, yes he is.

    @ Randomgirl, I agree.

@ Dartagan, yep you are probably right.

@ Bruce, I thought about writing about how he was here filming a new Major League movie but was too tired to write it out last night.

@ Barb, of course he needs help.

@ Lost, you might be on to something here.

  9. There were horrible reviews of his show here in the Tampa area. Members of the audience leaving the theater saying it was a huge waste of money, etc. What were they expecting?

  10. Poor Charlie. There will be no "bottom" for him outside of prison or full-on psychosis. I'velost some friends to coke/meth/crank/whatever he's on and it's hard for me to look at his drawn, haggard face without remembering some of those people...

Sometimes having a whole lotta money is not a good thing.

  11. @ Ally, I heard his first show sucked but the ones after that were ok. Good point though, what were they expecting.

@ Pearl, I agree with you. I have lost some friends due to drugs and alcohol, and their faces all look the same.

  12. "I thought you had to do something good to be a celebrity?"

"Not if you do it colorfully."

No truer sentiment from the classic Major League movie could have been drummed up to explain Charlie Sheen today. It's even more fabulous that the line was aimed at his character anyway...it's all spooky and prophetic or something like that.

  13. Ugh. He makes me cringe. But I hope your Cougars to well and make the World Series too. :)

  14. The man is crazy but I'd still want his autograph.

  15. This might get me thrown off the planet...(like I care - I've been waiting for the mothership now for years)
    But I am a Sheen fan...full stop.

No explanation - crazy is as crazy does. And who hasn't done crazy!
    Well...I have anyway...and...still do!

    There...I'm out...whew, I can breath again.

    Cheers, Jenny

  16. @ Sam, I had completely forgot about that line from the movie. It makes so much sense now.

    @ S, thank you.

@ Devon, very true, same here.

@ Pearson, I like him as well. I just wish he would "tone" it down a little.

  17. He's probably heading to colleges to search for the next goddess.

  19. @ lass, I will come over and get it.

@ Laughingmom, that might be true.

@ Jarhead, yep you summed it up.

  20. I think he's a few grams away from a heart attack.

  21. Charlie Sheen in ok in my book.

Its those celebrities that think they're smarter than everyone else (despite having no academic achievements at all) that really irk me. You know, like Sean Penn, George Clooney, etc.

  22. he is really beginning to annoy me at first i thought the whole crazy act was kind of funny now it's just annoying and i'm tired of it. i'm so over him

    ReplyDelete
  23. I'm a bit surprised that he was sober enough to pick up a bat and swing it without hurting anyone. Maybe he should give baseball a try, kind of like how Michael Jordan did in the 90's. What do you think?

  24. Heard the torpedo was a bomb, but I'd plunk good dollars down to see Major League VI.

  25. You know what's crazy about Chuck? We all still love to talk about him, see his crap, watch his re-runs and folks he is probably making more money now then he was before. Kinda like that goofy bastard Joaquin Pheonix. Actin all sheeny and is actually making a movie. Remember folks TV is a conspiracy theory!

    ReplyDelete
  26. @ Ruth, true that.

    @ Minxy, very good point.

    @ Becca, yep.

@ Car, I am sure he would do better at baseball than most people.

@ Copyboy, I would pay to see that as well.

    @ Bushman, good point.

  27. From what I've read about his tour so far (it played here in CT earlier in the month I believe), it's been pretty much a one note thing with him being "interviewed" and some video being played behind him.

Problem is, because he's an actor and nothing else, his shows aren't worth whatever prices he's charging.

    ReplyDelete
  28. He Who Shall Not Be Named almost did play pro baseball. Acting took off for him so he had to make a choice and he opted for the big screen. Even so he has always remained connected to baseball. Athletes attract women and this fact is not lost on The Warlock. Hanging around ball fields helps increase his 'screwing pool'.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I think I should join a baseball team ;)

    ReplyDelete
  30. @ G, I agree. Although his show last night here in Houston had an appearance by Jeff Ross and he roasted his ass. At least that is what the local paper said.

@ Empress, I was not aware of that fact about him being good at baseball.

@ Shelby, lmao. I guess you liked the picture.

  31. Ah, the antics of Charlie Sheen. It's like watching a train wreck. I really want to look away, but I just can't.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Umm yeah, doesn't NCAA athletics have something about role models or something? Imean, how are they ever going to sire 12 children with 11 different baby mamas or lie about steroid use someday without role models?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Bat shit crazy doesn't even scratch the surface, does it. I had no idea he was coming to Houston, missed him by just a few days. Darn :)
PS - big U of H family here. My dad taught there for over 30 years and my mom went to school there (Oh yeah, better believe he was her professor. Go dad! And go cougs! lol)

  34. Awww, man! I wish you would have gone so you could have told me all about it. I forgot he was even in town. Speaking of The University of Houston, my parents said that the Oscar-nominated James Franco (is that his name??) that was in 127 Days is going to be getting his doctorate, or some advance degree, there. Do you know about that?

    ReplyDelete
  35. @ Cajun, yes it is just like a train wreck.

@ Jenny, you are killing me with that comment. Classic.

@ Texa, that is so cool that you have UofH connections like that. Awesome.

@ Kelley, yes I had heard about that. He is supposed to be starting next year here for a doctorate in creative writing.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I haven't heard from anyone whether his tour is actually any good. But I bet fans (or even non-fans) probably appreciate some quality time with the nutjob, who wouldn't?

    ReplyDelete
  37. He's living in his own universe...nice of him to travel through time and space to visit the kids on planet earth. You know things are bad when one of the porn star "goddesses" dumps him via text message.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Even without his latest escapades, I still hate him for sucking so bad in Platoon. which was otherwise an awesome movie!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Actually, Charlie hangin' with college baseball teams (because he really digs baseball) might be one of the very few "normal" things he's doing these days. Not that all college athletes are angels - but maybe some of their "normal" will rub off him (since they outnumber him) rather than his bat shit crazy rubbing off on them.

    ReplyDelete
  40. @ Dr, you are right.

    @ Virgin, so true.

@ Pat, I agree with you on Platoon.

    @ Reck, good point there.

    @ Rosie, yep.

  41. My boyfriend's brother in law played ball with him at one of the local high schools years ago when he was still cool.
